City Tech Winter 2020 Update

Winter in the Midwest always feels like a season of waiting…but for cities, the coming months will be extraordinarily expectant.

Amid punishing illness, angst, and loss at the hands of COVID-19, recent vaccine approvals offer light at the end of the tunnel. Nonetheless, we still face a ghastly winter ( and likely longer ) before desperately needed immunity becomes reality.

Many who care about cities have high hopes for a Biden Administration that should prove more supportive of the nearly 100 million US residents who live in cities larger than 100,000 people ( US Census Bureau ). A changing of the guard, however, is unlikely to bring immediate urban relief. Hope is in sight, but it’s still far off on the horizon.

But City Tech keeps working through the wait…

City Tech and our partners spent 2020 demonstrating how technology unlocks opportunities to improve the way we navigate and manage resources and public spaces during the pandemic, and we’re looking beyond COVID to a brighter future for public transit , infrastructure, and health.

With new solution partners  Engineering USA, Level-1, and Vapor IO, new thought leadership partnerships with the Chicago Architecture Center  and CityAge, and an ecosystem that now includes more than 100 members, strategic partners, and solution participants, City Tech looks to 2021 with clear eyes and cautious optimism.

Warm holiday wishes to you and yours,
City Tech Collaborative
